Using Cranberries in Prot-EFA™
Prot-EFA™ is a two-part nutritional supplement system consisting
of a powder (capsule) and an oil formula. When taken together,
the system provides essential fatty acids (EFAs) and essential
amino acids (EAAs) along with a host of other nutritional components.
An abundance of science exists on the benefits of these nutrients
for human and animal health.
The Prot-EFA™ Oil formua contains a unique
blend of fruit oils and flax oil providing the omega-3 and omega-6
essential fatty
acids, omega-9, vitamin E, carotenoids, phytosterols, phytoestrogens,
and lecithin (all of which will be defined later). Flax seed oil
has long been known as a source of omega-3 while the notoriously
healthy benefits of the Mediterranean diet is introduced with the
addition of extra virgin olive oil.
The Prot-EFA™ Powder
formula delivers all the amino acids including the essential amino
acids, phenolics, anthocyanin, as
well as both soluble and insoluble fiber. Much of their benefit
occurs on the cellular and molecular level, which influences overall
health, aging, and longevity. Prot-EFA™ Powder formula is
cranberry seed flour which has had the oil pressed from it, filtered,
and reintroduced at 10% of the overall blend. This reintroduced
oil is made up of “good fats”--the same cranberry oil
that is used in the Prot-EFA™ Oil formula. We use this extremely
potent oil to add stability to the cranberry flour and produce
a plant nutritional profile that creates a balance in the formula.
The cranberry seed flour is what is left over after the oil is
extracted. Because of the cold processing used, much like the oil,
the powder retains high amounts of nutrients. In fact, an unpublished
2001 study by Joe A. Vinson, PhD released:
The cranberry flour has 46% more powerful antioxidants than cranberries,
almost twice as powerful as vitamin C, almost 8 times more powerful
than beta carotene and 4 times more powerful than vitamin E.
